Production Planner

Lithion Battery is a vertically integrated manufacturer of cells and rechargeable battery packs servicing the Medical, Energy, Robotics, Industrial, and Military/Defense markets. Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically-minded Production Planner to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in optimizing our manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production workflows, and maintaining the highest levels of product quality. Your expertise will drive the planning, coordination, and execution of production schedules, balancing resources, and managing inventory to meet customer demand and business objectives. Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Develop and implement detailed production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization
  • Analyze and anticipate future production needs based on sales forecasts, historical data, and current market trends
  • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., procurement, operations, sales) to ensure material availability and alignment with production plans
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies and raw materials as needed, while managing inventory turnover and minimizing excess stock
  • Review and adjust production schedules in response to equipment downtime, staffing changes, or production delays
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations throughout the production process
  • Coordinate with the logistics department to align production plans with distribution and shipping schedules
  • Utilize ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for scheduling, inventory management, and reporting
  • Conduct capacity planning and provide feedback on production capabilities and constraints
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production processes and reduce costs
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production progress, challenges, and forecasts to management
  • Liaise with product development teams to facilitate the introduction of new products into the production cycle
  • Handle the rescheduling of orders due to unforeseen changes, such as rush orders or production issues, while minimizing impact on the overall production flow

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, inventory management, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production scheduling
  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems, and MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) tools
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience coordinating with multiple departments such as procurement, operations, and logistics
  • Understanding of inventory management practices and strategies
  • Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and production specifications
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory requirements in manufacturing
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
  • Willingness to adapt to changing production priorities and manage adjustments in planning
  • Certification in APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or similar is preferred
