Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled CNC Mill Setup/Operator to join our manufacturing team. The CNC Mill Setup/Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate should have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety protocols and production schedules.
CNC Mill Setup/Operator Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up CNC milling machines by installing and adjusting tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to blueprints, drawings, or job instructions.
- Load and unload workpieces into CNC mills, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
- Program CNC mills using G-code or CAM software to perform machining operations such as drilling, milling, boring, and tapping.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure parts are produced within specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings, tooling, and offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC milling machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, tooling issues, and quality defects to identify and implement corrective actions.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment.
- Document production activities, including setup procedures, tooling changes, and quality inspection results.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in machining or CNC operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a CNC mill operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling operations, including setup, tooling selection, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CNC controls, such as Fanuc, Haas, or Siemens, and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM).
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and use precision measuring instruments.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality orientation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
