Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Production Control Manager to be based out of Philadelphia, PA. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Control Manager will be responsible for ensuring order fullfillment and lead time alignment in our Philadelphia facility. This person will be responsible for creating production schedules, procuring certain inventory, managing outside processing, scheduling contractors, and implementing processes to stabilize and improve the operation. Daily activities will include leading and attending production meetings, creating and closing work orders, and coordinating schedules. After gaining an understanding of current state and transactional procedures, this role's strategic focus will shift to long term process improvement, development and strategy execution.

What you'll do:

  • Ensures production lines have necessary materials and supplies needed.
  • Coordinate purchasing department to obtain parts ordered for upcoming production.
  • Identify and help develop improvements to existing operational procedures to maximize efficiency
  • Outlines MRO purchasing activities for execution by the team.
  • Resolve issues by performing a root cause analysis and implement a solution/preventative action plan.
  • Collaborates and maintains open communication channels with plant personnel/departments including Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing to obtain the best pricings, quality, service and delivery.
  • Develop and monitor standard costs for raw materials.
  • Streamlines processes, improves raw material cycle times, and oversees supplier managed inventories.
  • Manages Ad hoc projects and reports to support the development and implementation of MRP systems; manage the databases associated with the procurement modules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline or combination of experience and education required.
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience with production, inventory, distribution, and working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Procurement/Supply Chain negotiating experience in an industrial environment preferred.
  • Highly proficient with MS OS and experience with JDE/Oracle strongly preferred.
  • Experience with inventory control programs and a working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems preferred.
  • Strong practical skills within a Lean manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in time and project management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the plant environment can be loud. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protectors, hi-visibility uniforms, and metatarsal steel-toed work boots.

  • Gain an understanding of the materials and resources needed to be effective and successful in your role.

  • Fully understand the planning, scheduling, procurement, and inventory processes as well as labor planning for production.
  • Create work instructions to standardize requirements related to the position.

Within 12 months, you'll:

  • Deliver on projects that positively impacts the business.
  • Provide support for key initiatives that deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Help find opportunities and bring new solutions with a focus on continuous improvement.
