This opportunity is at our Central Engineering Headquarters, located at the Donaldson Center campus in Greenville, South Carolina. Our team of Engineers is responsible for the successful implementation of major capital projects throughout North America. These state-of-the-art projects relate to new and upgraded material handling, material preparation, tire-building, and curing processes at our Manufacturing Facilities throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Michelin Manufacturing Engineering is seeking someone to manage the development or deployment of robotics in accordance with the manufacturing Americas direction. This person would drive end-to-end learning for robotics within in Manufacturing Engineering Americas. You will work daily with cross functional teams to define and track scope, aid in development of milestones, maintain deployment plans, and ensure smooth execution through multiple phases of deployment and development. This person will be responsible for developing and tracking deliverables for the robotics network with manufacturing engineering, unblocking dependencies, and driving cross-functional development across teams. Strong technical skills and understanding of robotics and robotic applications to lead technical reviews, identify and mitigate technical risks, and react quickly to design issues and evolving targets.

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS:


* Leads and animates the robotics network of engineers in the Americas to advance good practices and develop people's competencies.

* Bring and aid in developing others with an innovation mindset

* Foster an environment of teamwork

* Ensure the development of technical specification are completed and validated with industry partners/methods.

* Feasibility studies are done and propose the best possible solutions in terms of cost, time, and risks.
* Risk analysis is done, risks and contingencies are shared.
* The reception protocol is consolidated and validated with the methods.
* Engineering and purchasing tactics are made; they consolidate the commitment of the contributors.
* Best practices are developed and shared throughout the Manufacturing Engineering community
* Steering is ensured: organization of sharing reviews with its partner and contributors.
* Reporting including progress, action plan and cost landing is provided to the project management structure.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Lead and develop the Robotics network in North America.
  • Conduct pre-studies, prototypes, and pilots to capture business requirements and determine the best solutions in terms of costs/benefits, deadlines, risks, and functional capabilities.
  • Design, build, and lead implementation projects to improve plant performance by replacing outdated systems, improving existing equipment, or adding new innovations to make progress.
  • Implement and monitor actions necessary to mitigate risks (calculations, simulations, tests, etc.)
  • Implement best practices for Robotic design and development, including worldwide sharing of best practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in robotics.
  • Aid and mentor others with detailed design and simulations for projects.
  • Provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition, replacement, or upgrade.
  • Provide backup support and training to maintain and engineering.
  • Work closely and in cooperation with the worldwide Robotics network.
  • Travel as needed up to 30%, Americas and worldwide.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or related field or equivalent technical experience.
  • Ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision.
  • Success in working with other people or a team to meet a common objective.
  • Developed/implemented team or group project plans that met or exceeded expectations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and data accuracy in previous work.
  • Experience with robotics and robotic system/applications.
  • Experience with robotic simulations and solutions development
  • Proven leadership with networks of people.
  • Ability to develop, plan and facilitate training and workshops with 15+ people.
  • Leading and developing a Program.
  • Experience with developing people and standards
  • Experience with robotic simulations and solutions development

Additional for Senior Level:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for robotic solutions.
  • Ability to mentor and train maintenance and engineers
  • Proven experience in project management, from conception to completion
  • Strong understanding of procurement, installation, commissioning, and startup of robotic systems
  • Strong experience with Robotics
  • Robotic experience, configuration or hands on experience. Specific experience with Fanuc, ABB is a plus.
  • Experience with advanced robotic technologies such as AGV, ASRS, vision systems, machine learning and artificial intelligence
