Position Summary:
Responsible for the direct supervision of quality personnel, maximizing individual and plant-wide quality and technical skill development to insure on-time shipments and customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Quality Director and serves as their back-up.

While upholding the highest standards in compliance with Safety and Quality, the Quality Control Manager will be part of a team responsible for improving the Shur-Lok Business Quality System, reducing defects and leading the organization to a 'Zero Defect Tolerance' by utilizing the PCC Toolbox including Six Sigma and Lean.

With focus on Customer Satisfaction, the Quality Supervisor will implement best quality practices, drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with the PCC policies.
Position Accountabilities:
  • Analyzes, establishes, and communicates performance standards for all quality
  • Directs the performance management process by preparing and conducting performance reviews, employees, disciplinary actions, disciplinary meetings, and coaching sessions.
  • Analyzes variable labor costs daily, determines required staffing
  • Coordinates the My Idea program for the quality
  • Implements and coordinates cross training of all quality personnel to ensure the elimination of all skill gaps, resulting in a more skilled and adaptable Ensures the completion of required competency forms and certifications, as well as maintains an employee skill matrix.
  • Leads change through demonstrated leadership skills such as teamwork and effective communication.
  • Actively partners with Operations in quality planning, support of production goals, inspection and testing, documentation improvement and control, and shipment of quality products and services.
  • Works with the Engineering team on new development programs and problem solving projects to accelerate effective results.
  • Conducts purchase order reviews to ensure quality clause and requirements are met.
  • Conducts training and verifies training effectiveness of Quality
  • Provides support, training and leadership in quality systems, root cause determination, risk identification and management and process control including AQS techniques, DOE, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Develops and improves Quality procedures, including work instructions used in the Laboratory and other inspection areas.
  • Performs internal audits; issues and manages corrective actions to closure and verifies effectiveness.
  • Facilitates and participates in problem solving and root cause
  • Participates in Nadcap audit preparation (Material Testing, Heat Treat and Chemical Processing).
  • Performs trend analyses for supplier and customer returns, scrap and rework, and first time Identifies the opportunities for improvement and is an active contributor to the solutions.
  • Conducts supplier audits, performs trend analysis and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the continuous improvement process and practical tool application.
  • Complies with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS' and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.

  • Position Qualifications:
    MINIMUM EDUCATION Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and certifications.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 5-7 years related experience.
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
    SKILLS Strong analytical skills and action-oriented.
    • Working knowledge of technical drawings
    • Problem solving tools, e. Cause and Effect Diagrams, 5 Whys, A3s, 8Ds.
    • Working knowledge of measurement systems and use of Inspection equipment; micrometer, caliper, comparator, hardness tester, automated inspection equipment.
    • Computer proficiency, e. MS Office
    • Statistical Software, e. Minitab
    • Technical expertise in AQS, DOE, FMEA,

For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter .
