Job Summary:
Internship in Behavior Analysis provides supervised experience in classroom-based consultation for students (age 5-21 years) who qualify for special education under IDEA services to include autistic support, emotional support, deaf and hearing support, intellectual and multiple disabilities, and brain injury support. The experience provides the behavior analysis intern with direct supervision in areas approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. This internship is designed to meet the minimum hourly requirements for the intern to receive certification in the Pennsylvania

Essential Functions:
• Conducting assessments related to the need for behavioral intervention (e.g., stimulus
preference assessment, functional assessment, staff performance assessment);
• Designing, implementing, and systematically monitoring skill acquisition and behavior-reduction
programs;
• Overseeing the implementation of behavior-analytic programs by classroom staff;
• Training and designing behavioral systems, and performance management;
• Attendance and sharing of assessment findings and/or intervention recommendations at team
meetings;
• Conducting a review of literature related to assigned cases;
• Ongoing consultation and collaboration with classroom staff, related service professionals, and
caregivers about assessment and intervention

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Scheduling of internship hours is flexible and should be arranged in collaboration with the designated mentor, however the applicant must be available during school hours for a minimum of 10 hours per week and no more than 30 hours may be accrued per week.

Travel: Throughout Bucks County

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Internship in Behavior Analysis is flexible in duration, dependent upon whether the applicant’s experience standard is affiliated with a university approved practicum (750-1000 hours minimum) or whether they are seeking independent field work (1500 hours minimum), and whether they have completed partial fulfillment in another practicum or organization (position duration range 1-3 semesters, excluding summers with the start-date and end-date of experience not more than five years apart). The number of internship positions available each semester is dependent upon the number of returning interns, and the number of available mentors who are currently BCIU #22 employees, are hired as a behavior analyst, hold a current BCBA certification, and have been certified for at least 1 year. Following December of 2014, eligible mentors will have completed 8 hours of continuing education in supervision standards as required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. The mentor shall not be related to, subordinate to, or employed by the mentee during the experience period. The mentee shall not be related to or employed by the mentor during the experience period.
To be considered for the upcoming school year (September – June), applications must be received by July 31, 2024.

Level of Degree:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and successful completion of two foundational courses in behavior analysis is required. Independent transportation to and from sites is also required. Access to a cell phone is preferred. A laptop and IU email address are provided. The applicant must be willing to obtain clearances as well as participate in crisis prevention training (8 hours) training. The applicant is expected to maintain evidence of practicum hours (BACB Supervision and Experience Log or other university approved system of documentation).

To be hired for this position you will need the required PA clearances to be dated no more than one
