The Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager is responsible to ensure that high-quality nursing care is delivered in an efficient and effective manner. All while s upervis ing and coordinat ing activities of nursing personnel on assigned unit. They are r esponsible to Manage resident care through MDS, care planning process, and resident assessments/observations . REGISTERED NURSE (RN) UNIT MANA GER DUTIES:
• Reports all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse, including injuries of unknown sources.
• Tracks individual quality-of-care issues.
• Assures safety of the residents at all times .
• Conducts regular resident/patient care rounds.
• C onducts regular resident/patient care audits to identify problems, implements corrective action.
• Works closely with the phys icians, consultants, interdisciplinary team members, staff on or assigned to the unit who are responsible for their resident/patient population.
• May take a resident/patient care assignment/ function in the role of Charge Nurse for purposes of resident care and/or staff ins t r u c t ion.
• Participates in resident/patient/family care conferences.
• Assesses and directly observes resident in their room to ascertain nursing care needs and prepares and carries out required care plans. Completes required documentation utilizing computerized medical record system.
• Creates care plans consistent with facility Minimal Lift Program and philosophy.
• Utilizes and ensures accurate and descriptive records of the treatment and care of residents utilizing computerized medical record system.
• Checks and/or assigns check for MD orders, medication and charts to ins ure prompt and accurate execution of orders.
• Assists with wound rounds as necessary.
• Manages personnel; including any necessary corrective action, up to and including termination in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Director of Nursing and the Human Resources Director.
PHYS ICA L REQUIREMENTS OF A REGISTERED NURSE (RN) UNIT MANA GER: Requires movement throughout entire unit.
Must be able to bend, lift, and transport equipment.
Must be able to lift and turn residents as needed.
Requires ability to keyboard utilizing computerized medical record program.
REGISTERED NURSE (RN) UNIT MANA GER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the State Board of Nursing.
• Strong Attention to Detail and Work Ethic
• Previous Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility Preferred
