This Job Matters - What's the job?

This role leads and directs all aspects of the Claremont plant. Major areas include environmental, health and safety, employee relations, production, customer service, quality, materials planning / scheduling, purchasing, shipping and receiving, process and project engineering (including minimal R&D development), maintenance, finance, capital expenditures, cost improvement and security. Oversee and manage 2024/25 Capacity Expansion projects totaling $15M in spending. The objective is to achieve a workplace environment that is positive, safe, diverse and inclusive for employees and the community, and to foster continuous development of employees and teams to achieve performance excellence while optimizing the plant profitability, production, quality, and service that exceeds industry standards and secures a market leadership position.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES --
  1. Implement and maintain programs to ensure that the plant meets/exceeds Company requirements for Health, Safety and Environment. Identify and pursue continuous improvement programs for HSE and Quality Assurance. - 15%
  2. Manage all aspects of plant operations to ensure on-time delivery of quality products globally while minimizing cost, inventory and waste. Implement programs for continuous improvement of customer service, product quality, process yield, reduction of variable and fixed costs, and reduction of inventory. Pursue synergies with other SPG (Vinyl Siding) sites to collaborate, identify and implement best practices. - 35%
  3. Manage plant financials such as budgets, purchasing, capital, etc. to meet/exceed business expectations. Prepare appropriate plant information needed to complete Company financial requirements such as strategic plans and budgets. Implement key financial indicators to proactively monitor the plant's progress. - 25%
  4. Manage Human Resources to include staffing rationalization and resource deployment, employee/organization training and development, performance management, teamwork and collaboration, salary and wage (and bonus) compensation and administration, enforce safety, work rules and housekeeping practices and maintain a high level of employee relations focus within the plant. Continue to develop and adapt workforce to technology changes. - 15%
  5. Complete all administrative requirements in a timely fashion such as monthly reports, manufacturing reports and analysis, etc. - 10%

Your Skills Matter - What do you bring?
  • Bachelor of Science degree required with engineering/technical discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience manufacturing operations with demonstrated progressively increasing leadership responsibilities required.
  • Previous Vinyl Extrusion Experience Preferred; Focus on Co-Extrusion process.
  • Understanding of polymer processing preferred, including but not limited to: colorant and additives, is important; polyvinyl chloride would be preferred.
  • Experienced in leading teams made up of diverse skills and functions. Leads teams to achieve and/or exceed results.
  • Ability to engage and deploy the use of continuous improvement methodologies (WCM) and tools (Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen) that allow for innovation, automation, and process focus that optimize plant performance.
  • Experience in establishing annual objectives (in alignment w/long range goals) for the facility--all functions and ensuring accountability of same. Sets and expects high standards of quality and performance and reflects that same set of high standards for him/herself.
  • He/she must be able to assess and develop people, hold individual and teams accountable, in accordance with department and individual objectives resulting in strong safety, environmental, employee relations, and KOI performance
He/she must be able to coach, counsel, develop staff.
