Healthfirst's 2024 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 3, 2024. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience, that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions.

Position Summary:

The Healthfirst Delivery Systems Engagement department manages overall relationship with contracted health systems, manages contracting processes and collaborates with providers on advancement of Value-Based Care (VBC) delivery model. The team stays current on industry and business trends, reviews regulatory changes and best practices, and makes informed recommendations on VBC and quality initiatives to help providers to stay competitive in the health insurance industry. The department works closely with teams across the company to help grow Healthfirst members and the hospitals achieve top performance in VBC delivery model. The team ensures health systems are compliant with all contracts and State and Federal regulations while providing high quality care to Healthfirst Medicaid and Medicare members.

Over their ten weeks with Healthfirst, the Delivery System Engagement Intern will support projects focused on the strategic priorities of the department, which include Network Growth, Medicaid recertification, Improving Access to Care, Performance Improvement, Account Receivable Resolution, Operations Process Improvement, and improving Health Equity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The project may include any of the following tasks:

  • Develop and implement project workplans along with milestones and metrics to measure success
  • Identify needed analytics to support projects and collaborate with Analytics team on work.
  • Identify actionable insights from data analytics
  • Work with partners to research underlying issues driving health outcomes
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions
  • Conduct CMS and State regulations review
  • Conduct interviews of internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop recommendations for future Healthfirst initiatives and priorities
  • Present recommendations to internal stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MPH (or working towards
  • Pursuing a business or a healthcare administration degree
  • Project Management Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.
  • Will not require sponsorship for employment
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school

Hiring Range:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000
  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
