About the role This role will work from Magnetic Island and it would be a requirement to live on Magnetic Island due to the ability to be on the on-call roster.  The role is required to: Coordinate site access, permits, safety and statutory permissions to perform maintenance activities. Professionally supervise staff and contractors to ensure that licence, legislative, environmental, operational plan and quality requirements are met. Conduct on site coordination of major maintenance/breakdown and planned works to minimise costs associated with breakdowns, ensure effective maintenance of assets, reduce operational down time, and reduce reactive maintenance requirements. Perform routine inspections and maintenance activities on water and wastewater assets. Collect and report operational data as required, to support the department's management operating systems, and ensure compliance with legislative and other reporting requirements. Participate in on-call roster and callout arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues. About you Our ideal candidate will have: Current "MR" class driver's licence and Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD) essential Trade qualification in Plumbing and Drainage or Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (or equivalent) Vac Unit Operation trained with Certificate (2 year refresher through Council required) Traffic Management ticket Competent person with experience in Confined Space Entry Experience, ability and willingness to work across all areas of the water industry, including but not limited to water, wastewater, sampling Detailed knowledge of plumbing and pipeline systems, materials and fittings Extensive knowledge of maintenance and installation techniques for water services and mains Ability to analyse difficult operational situations and to implement workable solutions Knowledge of mapping systems, GIS and mobile computing systems and ability to be able to read and interpret drawings Knowledge of theory and application of Australian Drinking Water Guidelines as they apply to water reticulation systems Significant relevant knowledge and demonstrable experience in maintenance planning, scheduling and execution. Good knowledge of relevant policies and acts including Plumbing Act, Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act and demonstrated experience in the application of relevant principles in the workplace Good computer skills including utilising Microsoft Office applications and FEAMS Strong customer service and time management skills Ability to work as part of a team of employees to ensure that interruptions to water supply to Council customers is averted or rectified quickly and efficiently.
