At Pilgrim’s, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first - always. POSITION SUMMARY:The FSQA Supervisor provides 1) leadership to Food Safety & Quality team for executing food safety, quality, and regulatory activities and 2) technical support for food science, food safety, quality, and regulatory matters. The FSQA Supervisor provides departmental direction and support, using coaching, motivation, and supervisory techniques, ensures that teams achieve specified levels of performance. The FSQA Supervisor continuously seeks technical skills improvement and oversees safety, quality, training, retention, sanitation, budget, and productivity for employee teams under their supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assists in selecting trains, coaches, and motivates FSQA Team Members to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance in the respective positions.This includes administering company policies and procedures fairly and equitably to maintain company standards and using the Pilgrim’s Leadership Style.
  • Plans and schedules manpower, materials, and equipment to most effectively and efficiently utilize departmental resources to achieve business objectives and team goals.
  • Reviews, reports, and recommends improvements to ensure facility compliance to Pilgrim’s Food Safety, Regulatory and Quality systems through activities such as, but not limited to training, reviewing HACCP plans, auditing, executing hold process, managing corrective action system.
  • Provides technical assistance for sanitation, food safety, analytical procedures, and product quality matters as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Investigates, in cooperation with other departments, areas of food safety, quality, quality system, and regulatory improvements and provides suggestions.

  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks.Consistently practices and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Agriculture, or a related field preferred
  • Food company experience, in quality, preferred.
  • Certification in HACCP is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter
  • Knowledge of quality systems, food safety, SPC, GFSI Schemes and problem solving
  • Ability to coordinate resources, plan, and budget.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot basic product testing equipment.
  • Must be proficient at using multiple software applications such as personal computer skills including email, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of unknowns in situations.
  • Good math and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications, and other documents.
  • Ability to interpret and closely follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must function well under stress and possess strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with supervisors and/or respective personnel regarding production status and problems encountered.
  • Willingness to travel to other Pilgrim’s locations as needed.
  • Ability to work various shifts.
  • Ability to work across functions and build a team relationship within the company.
