JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will access needs, plan strategies and deliver evidence based supports to students with communicative disabilities across a variety of educational settings to include general and special education classrooms, specialized schools and community settings. Students may have single sound errors or multiple disabilities, and in working with students, the therapist must be adept at implementing and documenting varied strategies and deploying a variety of service delivery models to enhance communicative competence. Services provided by the SLP include assessment and intervention in speech sound disorders, voice, language, pragmatics, fluency, literacy (phonology), augmentative and

alternative communication (AAC) and dysphagia. Qualified applicants will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of a broad range of assessment strategies and analysis skills
  • Develop Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Collect and analyze data for progress monitoring
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues on IU and district initiatives
  • High level organization and time management skills
  • Strategic thinking in the delivery of services to students

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full time, 193 day position in itinerant locations throughout Bucks County. Hours are based on a 7.5 hour work day with specific hours dependent on the assignment in high school, middle or elementary school buildings or various community educational settings.

Travel:  

Travel is dependent on the assignment within Bucks County and is reimbursed in accordance with current IRS guidelines and rates.

Credentials:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certificate in Speech-Language Impaired PK-12 is required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is required*
  • License to practice Speech Language Pathology issued by PA Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs is preferred.

* Will consider strong Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidate for Long Term Substitute (LTS) positions in the Related Services program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of current Pennsylvania and Federal Special Education Regulations.
  • Clinical competence to support a wide range of communicative needs
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer technology and Augmentative-Alternative Communication
  • Compliance with health, safety and confidentiality regulation
