Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services Reference: 2096 About the Role*This is a 5 month Fixed Term Position*The Aboriginal Partnerships Officer sits within Regional Surface Transport and is responsible for leading, coordinating and providing expert advice to develop, maintain and support strong working relationships and partnerships with Registered Aboriginal Parties, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and other Aboriginal stakeholders within the region, built on mutual trust, respect and understanding.This is an excellent opportunity to work in your community / region and deliver the Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Self Determination Plan 2020-2023, Action 6 Regional Chapter (Action Plans). The Aboriginal Partnership Officer will work alongside the Aboriginal Self Determination & Reform branch and supported by the Aboriginal Partnerships and Engagement team within the branch to deliver on the Regional Chapter and cultural safety action plan for the Region.This role has been designated for only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander DescriptionPosition Outcomes / Accountabilities • Effective Stakeholder Management – The Aboriginal Partnerships Officer has developed and maintained strong relationships with the Registered Aboriginal Parties and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations across the region.• Plan Implementation –Effectively implemented the actions from the regional Self Determination Plan in a timely manner. • Expert Advice –Provided specialist advice on engagement with Registered Aboriginal Parties and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations across region. • Cultural Competence – Aboriginal Partnership Officer will develop in collaboration with the Aboriginal Self Determination and Reform branch a Cultural Safety implementation plan to improve the regions cultural competency.• Promote and support safe, inclusive, and flexible team individual demonstrates strong abilities in partnering and co-creation by actively engaging with users, stakeholders, and experts in the design process, gathering insights, and involving them in prototyping and testing. They exhibit advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, relying on existing guidelines or thorough analysis where guidelines are lacking. In project delivery, they effectively execute tasks according to plans or prioritize based on urgency and impact when plans are absent, utilizing appropriate task management tools and maintaining accurate project records. Their accomplished interpersonal skills enable them to perceive underlying concerns, maintain genuineness in interactions, and optimize outcomes by understanding others.
