Diversity and inclusion: Bringing our best selves to work

Have you ever considered why we’re invited to parties? It’s probably because of who we are. Diversity is being you, not anyone else. When people are comfortable with themselves, inclusion follows.

To help explore these issues, College Recruiter recently hosted a College Recruiting Bootcamp on LGBT and other diversity hiring issues on Tuesday, September 29, at the Twilio headquarters in San Francisco.

College Recruiter has been publishing the opinions from a number of talent acquisition and recruiting leaders about why and how employers should diversify their workforces. LGBTQ equality in STEM workforce

A recent press release discusses a new project with the Rowan University Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering in New Jersey partnering with other universities to advance LGBTQ equality in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Research shows that STEM students and professionals are not as comfortable on campus compared to students and professionals in other fields. The project also promotes a diverse workforce in STEM fields by encouraging LGBTQ equality through recruitment efforts.

The Diversity and Inclusion Equation

While diversity is expressed in multiple ways, that does not mean people can’t get along. Initially believing in one thing doesn’t mean we cannot change our minds. By accepting our differences and including others who are different, we achieve equality in both diversity and inclusion.
