#truCollegeRecruiter NYC and Dallas recruiting conferences in December 2013

#tru Conferences, the global leader in recruiting unconferences, and CollegeRecruiter.com, the leading niche job board for college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities, together brought to New York City and Dallas a day each of learning, engagement, and challenge for those in corporate recruiting, third-party recruitment, human resources, talent acquisition, branding, social media, technology developers, and vendors.

At each event we were joined by almost 100 who were tired of flying halfway across the country for three days of sessions which mostly bored them to death. One of our attendees at a past event said that the information came at her like water from a fire hose. Another attendee said that if he had known just how interactive the sessions would be, he would have skipped his morning coffee. If your idea of a recruiting conference presentation is a 60 to 75 minute, 25 slide PowerPoint deck, delivered by someone who clearly has never taken a public speaking class in their life then you’ve never been to one of our events. Call for presentations for #truCollegeRecruiter conferences

truCR bannerBill Boorman and crew at Globaltru — the organization behind unconferences such as truSanFrancisco and truLondon — has partnered with niche job board CollegeRecruiter.com to create one day events this December in New York City, Atlanta, and Dallas. Do you know of anyone who would like to be a presenter / track leader?

CollegeRecruiter.com is the leading niche job board used by college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities. We’ve hosted four similar events for recruiters and other human resource professionals: FedCollege events located in Washington, D.C. and one College Recruiting Bootcamp and co-hosted with LinkedIn this past May at their offices in Mountain View, California.

The December events will each pair a morning of our 20 minute, TedX-like presentations with an afternoon of the unconference, moderator-led, discussion-based tracks where the conversations are much more free flowing. Each conference will run from 8am through 5pm. Dates and venues are: (more…)

Videos and PowerPoints From FedCollege Recruiting Conferences on 12/7 and 12/8/2011

On April 1, 2011, Steve Tiufekchiev of RECSOLU and I co-organized the first FedCollege recruiting conference for federal, state, and local government employees who were involved in the hiring of college students for internships and recent graduates for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities. The conference was at The George Washington University’s Marvin Center in Washington, D.C.

Partnering with RECSOLU on this non-profit venture was a natural as Steve and I work well together and RECSOLU’s services are quite complimentary to the job postings, targeted emails, banner advertising, targeted cell phone text messaging, and other job board services sold by CollegeRecruiter.com. RECSOLU is a leading recruiting software, solutions, and services company, whose clients include more than 100 major corporations. Their packaged solutions enable their clients to achieve their college recruiting goals more effectively, with less staff time, greater efficiency, greater accuracy, and less cost.

We had hoped for 50 attendees to the April conference and were pretty happy when we ended up with 72 attendees. It was apparent to us that we should host another but we didn’t want to end up with even more attendees so we split the conference into two days with corporate and non-profit employer representatives scheduled for Wednesday, December 7th and government employer representatives scheduled for Thursday, December 8th. It was a good thing that we split the conference into two as we ended up with over 80 attendees between the two days. The smaller number of attendees per day really paid off as the sessions became more interactive than they would have been in larger rooms and attendees were able to meet and visit with each other much more easily. Half day college recruiting conference at GWU

This past April, The George Washington University, RECSOLU, and CollegeRecruiter.com worked together to pilot a half day college recruiting conference (FedCollege) for federal government employees involved in the recruitment of college students and recent graduates. We hoped that 50 attendees would join us but we were delighted when 72 showed up and created an oversold event! (more…)

Learn From the Best: University Recruiting Within the Federal Government

Matt Collier of the Office of Personnel Management

Local, regional, and national recruiting conferences are great sources of learning for the vast majority of staffing leaders. To date, none have done a thorough job of focusing on the needs of federal government staffing leaders who are involved in recruiting college students for internships and recent graduates for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities.

That’s about to change. On Friday, April 1, 2011, The George Washington University Career Center, college job board CollegeRecruiter.com, and HR solutions provider RECSOLU are teaming up to host a half day, non-profit, no selling, purely educational event. All of the attendees and presenters will be federal government recruiters, human resource managers, hiring managers, and other staffing leaders. (more…)
