ESPN logoIt is important to most of us that we enjoy our work but difficult to know when you’re looking for a job whether we’ll be happier working for one employer versus another. A great way to know if an employer offers a great place to work is to ask the people who know the organizations best — their employees. For the past seven years, Glassdoor has awarded its Employees’ Choice Awards to honor the 50 best places to work.  For 2015, the 48th best place to work was ESPN.

Recognized as “The Worldwide Leader In Sports”, ESPN is based in the United States and can be watched around the world on both cable and satellite television.  Bristol, Connecticut is where you will find the headquarters of ESPN, which is owned by ESPN Inc. and is operated by The Walt Disney Company.  Launched in September 1979, the programming featured on the channel includes live and recorded event telecasts, as well as sports news and talk shows.  ESPN also has several sister channels such as ESPN2, which features shows I enjoy like Mike & Mike, First Take, and His & Hers.

Why would you want to work for ESPN?  One reason is an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and wellness.  The concept is reflected in three ways: workforce, workplace, and marketplace.  There are employee resource groups available that support different ideas, experiences, and personalities, creating a positive environment where everyone can succeed.  Learning and development is also a reason to consider employment.  This includes mentoring and training; some of the training involves the following:

  • Professional Development
  • Management/Leadership Development
  • Computer Skills
  • Business Immersion Programs
  • Individual Career Development

College students and recent graduates can explore career opportunities at ESPN.  Students can get internships that will allow them to learn and do work that sports fans can appreciate.  If you are a graduate, you can work in these areas:

  • Corporate
  • Cross-Platform Media & Content
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Technology
