Google logoIt is important to most of us that we enjoy our work but difficult to know when you’re looking for a job whether we’ll be happier working for one employer versus another. A great way to know if an employer offers a great place to work is to ask the people who know the organizations best — their employees. For the past seven years, Glassdoor has awarded its Employees’ Choice Awards to honor the 50 best places to work. For 2015, the best place to work was Google.

Are you looking for information online?  Well, in today’s world, googling is probably your best resource to find it.  After all, is there a more popular search engine than Google?   With its headquarters located in Mountain View, California, Google was founded by two Stanford University students pursuing their PhDs, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.  In September 1998, Google became a privately held company; years later in August 2004, it was made available to the public as an IPO.  The goal for Google’s founders was “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”.

Why would Google be an employer to consider?  The company promotes being innovative and takes on what is said to be impossible.  Google also appreciates diversity in the workplace, and seeks to help its employees learn while developing their skill sets.

A student can find different programs, job opportunities, and internships at Google.  Internships include technical and product management areas.  Some student programs are the following:

  • Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI)
  • Doodle 4 Google
  • Student Ambassador Program
  • Google Online Marketing Challenge
  • Google Teacher Academy
