So all your friends have commenced their career voyages? They talk of their companies, the management there, their colleagues, chances for their growth and blah blah blah. All this time you recoil in your own shell, wondering when your efforts will finally show some positive results and get EMPLOYED!

You have been called numerous times for an interview but every time you end up exiting the workplace with slumped shoulders and a heavy heart. Why is it that only your lucks have been in a huge pitfall ever since you graduated! It is not that you have not struggled; you have tried all possible means to somehow get into an internship even but miss destiny is not that merciful these days.  But blaming your luck is not always the perfect solution; you probably have some flaws that need immediate correction.

I have witnessed fresh graduates committing a few common mistakes and repeating them over and over, it’s an infinite queue I believe. But I will be serving as your consultant currently and will provide you with a few tips meanwhile highlighting the reasons that lead to course of unemployment:

REASON:

The first issue is that your intelligence is restricted to good grades only; your brains go on hibernation once you set out for some smart planning. Job hunt is not a joke; it is undoubtedly a very critical process that needs some careful planning as well. The problem that occurs here is your inability to comprehend your own flares and talents. For instance, you are great in channel management and you have vast knowledge of the supply chain elements, but as you have done your majors in human resource you strive to get a job in that field only. When you end up as an interviewee, your crammed up knowledge doesn’t reap you much benefits.

Solution:

Your career shall never be affected by your list of excuses, why you couldn’t choose the field of your interest etc, etc… It is mandatory that you follow your passion like one would chase light in a dark tunnel. Even if you have done your graduation in some subject that is not a darling of yours, doors to your career are always open. It is a lifelong decision, act like Albert Einstein while making it.

REASON:

The next problem occurs when a graduate would peek into his box of connections. No, no, I am not referring to his friends, family and acquaintances; in fact I mean contacts that are useful, commonly referred to as “sources”.  So when he looks into that box it is almost empty, now he would scratch his chin and get his fins ready to fight the thrashing waves of water. Obviously I do not mean that education and skills are outweighed by contacts but to be honest, these days it is LinkedIn that most of the times gets you a job.

Solution:

Solution is understood, fresh graduates shall make a point of socializing and embedding their profiles with some powerful contacts. Opportunities will then automatically pop-up!

REASON:

Well, this reason for many may not be a mountainous one but for me the hill it creates is enough to have huge impacts. Your “personality” matters! Here I mean everything that is spiritually connected to an individual’s bones and flesh. Your demeanor, style, skills, attitudes, mannerism and the way others view you is what we term as personality. Many people would focus on all other things and miss out this point.

Solution:

I believe if you cannot make an impression with what you are, you will have to wait in a long queue to get recognized when your turn comes. Personal grooming is like washing your face every day in the morning. It is an ongoing process, one needs to gradually add up more skills to his/her persona. Just be different somehow and you will make your mark…
