Facebook logoIt is important to most of us that we enjoy our work but difficult to know when you’re looking for a job whether we’ll be happier working for one employer versus another. A great way to know if an employer offers a great place to work is to ask the people who know the organizations best — their employees. For the past six years, Glassdoor has awarded its Employees’ Choice Awards to honor the 50 best places to work.  For 2014, the fifth best place to work was Facebook.

Most people have probably heard of social networking site, Facebook.  The service has allowed anyone, especially students, to connect online as “friends”.  Along with his Harvard classmates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook in February 2004.  While the site was limited at first to certain students, it eventually became open to everyone 13 years of age and older.  Once registered on the site, users can create (and update) a personal profile, choose their friends, share messages, and more.  Since September 2012, Facebook has produced more than one billion active users.

Why should you work for Facebook?  You will have the opportunity to be a problem solver, and make a difference.  The company’s goal is to bring the world together in a more open and connected manner, and promotes values it expects employees to bring to the table, which include the following:

  • Focusing on impact
  • Moving fast
  • Being bold
  • Being open
  • Building social value

Are you among college students or recent graduates?  Facebook has job opportunities and internships available for those of you who want to be a part of something big.
