Plumber

You can become a plumber by attending a trade school, community college, or completing an apprenticeship and trainings, as well as obtaining a license.  As a plumber, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to dismantle a sink and clear drainpipes, as well as other intricate and complex plumbing skills.  Plumbers are always and will always be in demand, as there are always plumbing needs to be handled.  During their apprenticeship, plumbers can expect to make around 50% of the wage rate of licensed plumbers, and then the wages will increase as you become more experienced and educated.

Electrician

The job of an electrician is also a great option for a skilled trade job and one that will always be in demand.  As an electrician, you will receive training and education in areas like electrical theory, electrical code requirements, blueprint reading, safety, etc.  There are many areas of electrical work that you can get into, making this an interesting job as well.  In order to become an electrician, you will need to complete an apprenticeship as well as classes, and eventually become licensed.

HVAC Technician

Another great skilled trade career is an HVAC technician.  To become an HVAC technician, you need to complete a program that lasts from 6 months to a year, or attend a community college HVAC program.  As an HVAC technician, you will be working on air conditioning units both outside of home and inside, including ductwork, installation, etc. An HVAC technician is also a very in demand job, which guarantees job stability.  You will also need to be licensed as an HVAC technician, especially if you want to start your own business.

Auto Mechanic

Another great skilled trade career is that of an auto mechanic.  And because people will always be driving cars, your job will always be necessary.  As an auto mechanic, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to correct any technical or mechanical issues that a car is having, as well as the typical issues a car might have as well.  Auto mechanics are able to work in a shop or open their own shop and work for themselves, allowing for more freedom.  In order to become an auto mechanic, you will need to complete a formal training program that typically takes from 6 months to a year or attend a community college with an auto mechanic program.  Some high schools even offer a technical program in which students can begin learning the auto mechanic skills.
