Advice for Employers and Recruiters
Do Job Boards Still Matter?
Yes, job boards still matter. They are a convenient method of searching the latest job postings or different categories such as job title or location. While new recruiting strategies such as social media and mobile may come into play, job boards can incorporate them to help people find jobs. As a result, you would expect job boards to have more success by expanding their audiences to those who use social media and mobile devices.
The following infographic shares the findings of a study on social media and mobile recruiting. When looking at the information, it is important to consider job boards, not just social media and mobile recruiting. For example, the reference to social referrals costing nothing seems unlikely; perhaps they are less expensive. Would it not cost an employer to have workers or recruiters do this? In addition, with no information available in the infographic to support job boards, you can’t compare them to the other media mentioned; so how could you answer the title of the article? Also, there may be a belief that job boards act independently from mobile devices, when they both can work together. In reality, no matter what device is being used, the most important thing to remember is that job boards win because there is more access to them.
Job boards that adapt to changes in recruiting such as social media and mobile are more likely to succeed in the future. Why? Because tech savvy job seekers will appreciate job boards who embrace their form of communication, and that matters.
