If you have been out of work for a while, hearing constantly about a struggling job market isn’t exactly encouraging.  Hopefully, you have not become a passive job seeker, just occasionally glancing at newspaper ads or waiting for the phone to ring.  As the economy improves, career experts believe now is the time for job seekers to develop more strategic job searches.  Here are some tips to guide you in this process:

Make a list of the companies where you would like to work– Research these companies to determine if you’re a good fit, and then find opportunities to network with employees or other contacts of these companies.

Write down your job search strategy– You are probably more likely to stay focused on your job search if you have a plan to follow.  In addition, you can make adjustments where needed by reviewing your strategy.

Keep a positive, can-do attitude– No matter what job search strategy you employ, always believe in yourself; if you don’t, how can you expect employers to do so.
