Take Initiative by Getting Involved With Community Service Programs

It’s hard to find out how to get involved with community service programs in your city if the city does not promote their causes. My problems arose while contacting government associations in my city and no one wanted to direct me to organizations. To live in a capitol city, I expected these government associations to give me a sense of direction but I received disappointment instead. This can’t happen everywhere when people want to be involved and want to make changes. It hurts my heart to realize how these ‘officials’ or ‘important’ people would seem so cold to their communities.

So, you know what my idea was to change all of that? Develop a project for my community and allow the community to find ways to help in the service. Yes, that’s right. Change the atmosphere of what the corporate offices want to happen within their district. The real voices are within the people who fight a good fight while placing social responsibility ahead of the game. Imagine how many people will want to help you get a project started within their city.
There are a few ways to get input in what needs to be done:
1. Visit or contact local organizations and clubs to offer help on their projects.
2. Develop a project to share with the organizations or the community.
3. Acknowledge the causes and missions of a community service program.
4. Create opportunity for community service project ideas.
5. Practice what you preach amongst the organizations
Initiative means taking control of the ideas and creating a reality for others. Altruism goes a long way, but make sure it’s for the good of all and NOT just for you. As I stated in posts before, getting involved with community service is not for the fainted heart. We must recognize the potential within our communities once we realize the potential within ourselves. Do a justice for every organization that continues to fight for their voices to be heard. It’s important to let the people know someone cares and some is willing to help them with their movements.
Note of Caution:
Please review the real objective of the organization before you become too involved. It’s important to remain close to core values while helping others move towards their goals.
