States Have Greater Decrease in Internships Than Entry Level Jobs Posted in July
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, July 6, 2009 - In response to recent reports that job seekers are struggling to find jobs, CollegeRecruiter.com compiled lists of the five best and worst states for finding internships and entry level jobs. The data was gathered through a state-by-state search on the site; the lists will be updated every month to help students and entry level job candidates know how many opportunities are available to them and in which states.
While there were many states that showed a sharp reduction in the number of internship listings they provided, there was only a small decline in the number of entry level jobs posted for July. Interestingly, less populated states like Montana and North Dakota showed dramatic increases (as much as 65%) in the number of internships they posted for July but showed a decrease in the number of entry-level job posts. Conversely, more largely populated states like California and Florida showed a greater decrease (as much as 19%) in the number of internships posted than entry level jobs. Some states like Idaho and Maine saw a dramatic increase (60% and 94%, respectively) in the number of internships posted to Collegerecruiter.com for July, while there was an increase of 73% in entry level jobs posted from the state of Michigan. No other state enjoyed such a dramatic increase for July, but none saw greater than a 20% decline either.
