FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, April 13, 2009 - CollegeRecruiter.com, the leading job board for college students hunting for internships and recent graduates looking for entry level jobs and other career opportunities, announced today that it has become one of the first job boards and the first college job board to create a fully functional, mobile web site at CollegeRecruiter.mobi.

"We decided a few years ago that the future of the Internet was mobile, but we felt until recently that the significant investment in building and maintaining a second version of our web site was not yet worth it," said Steven Rothberg, founder of CollegeRecruiter.com. "We knew that the mobile web had reached critical mass when Nielson Media reported that more than 40 million U.S. residents access the web on their cell phones. And given that our primary audience are college students, recent graduates, and alumni, we also knew that a higher percentage of our tech savvy audience would be mobile web users than the audience for general job boards or the niche boards which target by industry or geography."

Visitors to the CollegeRecruiter.mobi mobile job board will find a fully functional job board. All of the articles, blogs, job postings, and other content on CollegeRecruiter.com also run on CollegeRecruiter.mobi. Many other job boards which claim to be mobile, however, aren't truly mobile because candidates who find job postings of interest on those other sites aren't able to apply to the jobs right away. Instead, their users first must find the job on the mobile site, then email a link to the job to themselves, then go to a computer, and then apply to the job. "CollegeRecruiter.mobi is truly mobi," said Rothberg. "Candidates search the job database on their cell phones just like they're on their computers. They read the job postings on their mobiles just like they're on their computers. And they can apply to the job postings on their mobiles just like they're on their computers. There's no need to email a link. If a job is posted at 9:00am and they find it at 9:10am, they can apply to it at 9:10am and be the first candidate to apply rather than emailing it to themselves and then not being able to do anything until they can get to their computer."

Candidates understand that a delay of a day or two or even hours can make the difference between landing that all important first interview or being put into the black hole of an applicant tracking system. Those who apply early stand a better chance of being hired than those who apply later, and the CollegeRecruiter.mobi mobile job board makes it both possible and easy to apply first. In these difficult economic times, every edge matters and CollegeRecruiter.com is thrilled to be at the leading edge of helping college students, recent graduates, and alumni get every edge they deserve.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, April 8, 2009 - In response to recent reports that job seekers are struggling to find jobs, CollegeRecruiter.com compiled lists of the five best and worst states for finding internships and entry level jobs. The data was gathered through a state-by-state search on the site; the lists will be updated every month to help students and entry level job candidates know how many opportunities are available to them and in which states. The results? Very encouraging.

"We were very pleased to see that almost every state, large and small, recorded significant increases in the number of internships and entry-level job openings," said Steven Rothberg, Founder of CollegeRecruiter.com job board. "There has certainly been a lot of doom-and-gloom related to the economy over the past year but an increase in the number of advertised job openings means that more employers are finding it difficult to attract the talent they need to fill the openings they have. Historically, increased entry-level hiring is one of the earliest signs that an economy in recession is recovering."

The states with the largest number of internship and entry-level job listings on CollegeRecruiter.com in April are:

Internships

State Postings in April Postings in March Percent Increase (Decrease)
California 2,702 2,152 26
New York 1,754 1,487 18

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

With only 64.1 percent of college students and recent graduates believing that it will take them three or fewer months to find a job if they were to start looking for a new job today, their pessimism is significantly stronger than it was in March when 73.5 percent expected to find a new job within three months or even February when 65 percent expected to find a new job within three months.

Minneapolis, Minnesota, April 7, 2008 - College students and recent graduates are again pessimistic about the prospects they face in the job market. The candidates swung from optimistic to pessimistic in January and February, back to optimistic in March, and back again to pessimistic this month. In February, for example, only 65 percent expected to find a new job within three months but by March that percentage had increased to 73.5 percent. Yet the continuing flat stock market, subprime mortgage scandals, fears of recession, and uncertainty in the political arena seem to be weighing heavily on the minds of college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry level jobs and other career opportunities.

CollegeRecruiter.com, the leading job board for college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry level jobs and other career opportunities, conducts a monthly poll in which candidates are asked, "If you were to start looking for a new job today, how many months would you expect it to take to find one?" The results have been:

  • November - 75 percent of respondents expected that it would take them only three or fewer months to find a job and fewer than 13 percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.
  • December - 74 percent expected that it would take them only three or fewer months to find a job but only five percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.
  • January - 69 percent expected that it would take them only three or fewer months and slightly over eight percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.
  • February - 65 percent expected that it would take them only three or fewer months and almost six percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.
  • March - 74 percent expected that it would take them only three or fewer months but over 12 percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.
  • April - 64 percent expected that it would take them only three or fewer months but only 5 percent believed that it would take them longer than a year.

The results of the CollegeRecruiter.com Job Seeker Confidence Index for April 2008 were:

"We were disappointed to see that the majority of college students and recent graduates who use CollegeRecruiter.com to find internships, entry level jobs, and other career opportunities were again pessimistic about their ability to find a new job quickly," said Steven Rothberg, President and Founder of CollegeRecruiter.com. "We are, however, not surprised. News that the nation had shed 80,000 jobs over the previous month was announced just days before we conducted our poll. The dismal job market news can only make a tough job market seem worse to those who are struggling to find an internship, entry level job, or other career opportunity."
