Rachel Nelson Moeller is assistant director of career services at Lafayette College with over 12 years of experience in career services and academic advising at the college level. Her work at Lafayette involves assisting students in all parts of the career development process as well as coordinating the alumni sponsored externship (job shadowing) and internship programs. Rachel works with students of all class years and academic majors as they move through the career exploration and decision-making processes. She also works closely with Lafayette alumni cultivating opportunities for them to share their career expertise with current students.
Prior to arriving at Lafayette College, Rachel spent ten years working in academic advising and career services at Northampton Community College. Her work at NCC allowed her to interface with adult students, first generation college students, and mid-career job changers. She was also the point person for all dislocated workers entering the college for retraining. This experience makes her well qualified to assist adults in all phases of career exploration and the job search. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College, Masters degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a post-Masters Certificate in Career Development from John F. Kennedy University. She has written and presented on numerous topics related to academic and career advising. Rachel’s article entitled Celebrating Successes, The Marriage of Fun and Work, is published in the summer 2005 issue of NACE Journal. |
Rachel and her husband Tim have two young children and face the challenges that all dual career couples have in balancing home and work. They enjoy traveling as a family and are frequent visitors to Walt Disney World.
