Question:

I just graduated from school and took a job in another state. They're paying for my relocation expenses, but I won't be paid for several weeks until after I start. How do I finance that?

First Answer:

It may sound rather simplistic but it seems this may be the first step in resolving the situation.

Contact the HR specialist who handles relocation issues for the company and ask for clarification regarding the relocation cost policy. It would seem that certain costs and living expenses would be advanced to you so that you can get to your new job and make a successful start. Once the moving expenses are resolved, you'll be able to provide receipts to back up the costs.

Also consider whether you are receiving a signing bonus and when it will be paid. Those funds may also be available to offset your starting costs.
