Marcia Merrill holds a few degrees -- as she jokes, "I can play alphabet soup with the rest of them!" She has a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology -- concentrating on Career Counseling and Multicultural Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland. Her other Master's is a Master of Arts in Instructional Systems Development/Bilingual/Bicultural Education from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She also holds an Employee Assistance Program certificate(EAP) from Loyola. Her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts in French, Spanish & Linguistics from UMBC, makes her useful when traveling! She's always been interested in Communication and Careers and helping others achieve their goals.
Marcia is the Assistant Director for Career Development and Placement Center at Loyola College in Maryland and her chief responsibilities are Technology -- the home page, doing Internet searches for new web sites that will help her students, maintaining the Career Resource Library, providing individual & group presentations, counseling and workshops and many things in between! She has been at Loyola for over 15 years and in field of Higher Education and Career Development about 17 to 18 years. "A long time, but I love what I do -- so it's great!"
Marcia has been a NACE "Ask the Experts" panelist for about seven years and has been interviewed for resume writing, Internet job search and other career-related topics. She has written articles and been published in e-zines by Quintcareers.com, national career newsletters such as CareerWatch by Commission for Career Development-ACPA, MACCA, and various others.
Marcia's expertise is in networking, career guidance and Internet job search. Given that Marcia is a career changer, she also has expertise in career changing! She started as Staff Analyst for an engineering consulting firm and taught ESL to adults. Marcia can be reached at mmerrill@loyola.edu.
