Be flexible. Expect - and embrace - the inevitable challenges of a new position. A smaller company may expect you to accomplish more, with less assistance. Whatever the challenge, a flexible attitude will make your transition less stressful.

Never stop networking. It's a good idea to keep yourself mentally prepared for the possibility that the job may not work out. Remain in touch with college contacts and continue building your professional network. A few weeks after your start date, send a short thank-you note to everyone who offered assistance to you during your search.

A positive reputation and the support of your co-workers are crucial for long-term success in any new job. By following the strategies discussed above, you can make a favorable first impression and further advance your career.
