ways in which you can distribute your resume, and you should use all sources available: networking, internet, websites, responding to classified ads, broadcast letters to companies who are not advertising positions, headhunters, job fairs, etc. It is important to follow up your mailings with a telephone call within seven to 10 days, whenever possible. You are calling to inquire if your resume has been received, if there is an application that needs to be completed, if the recipient requires additional information or has any questions, and the status of your consideration for the position.

Evaluation

In approximately three months (or a time you have specified), evaluate your strategy to determine if you are obtaining the desired results. You may need to expand your target list, spend additional time on networking or identify more resources. You may want to add informational interviewing to your strategy to expand your knowledge of the target market and to ensure that your resume is emphasizing the appropriate skills and experiences. Maintain a positive attitude throughout your job search. Be aware that some industries are more competitive than others, some geographic areas offer fewer opportunities with specific industries, the economy affects the job market, and there are numerous other factors that may impact your job search. A review of your strategy may provide insight to enhancing favorable results.
