1. Do not use every formatting feature that comes with your word processing package - it's annoying to have resumes that blink, sing and have used every color under the rainbow.

2. Be sure to include not only your name but your phone number and address as well - you may be the perfect candidate but we cannot contact you without this information.

3. Comments about Dilbert in everyday conversation are ok, comments about Dilbert on your resume are not.

4. Do not make fun of the recruiters name no matter how weird it is. ("No, I am not Oriental or Asian, Yes my real name is Jade")

5. If we request your resume in a particular format, please send it in in THAT format, not something else because you think it looks better.

6. Please run a virus scan of some sort BEFORE sending in your resume to a recruiter.

7. If we take the time to suggest how your resume might look better or if there are mistakes that we find, be pleasant about it. Being rude to us because we found a mistake or two will only get your resume deleted from the system.

8. Spellcheck your resume BEFORE sending it in. I promise you we will.

9. If you are applying for a position that requires, and is stated so in the job description, 3+ years experience in a particular field, make sure you have at least 3 years experience, not 3 months.

10. Do not be so arrogant to the recruiter. Remember, your resume is not the only resume we will see today.
