As a newly graduated young professional, you probably have encountered the joys of sending out resumes via email only to receive rejection letters, autoresponders or even promises that never materialize.

Luckily, there are ways to increase your success rate! All it requires is a methodical planning method. Ask yourself the following 2 questions:

  1. Where do I want to work? Let's say you wanted to work in San Francisco, California. You could then go to Google and search for

    "San Francisco" jobs

    like so:

    http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=%22san+francisco%22+jobs

and come across targeted job sites like

    http://www.craigslist.org/
    http://www.bajobs.com/
    http://www.sanfranciscojobs.com/

and more. If the search didn't return the results you wanted, you could broaden it by searching for

    California jobs

Using these free sites should certainly give you targeted exposure.
  2. In what kind of industry do I want to work? Perhaps you want to get hired as an engineer. Searching for

    engineering jobs

    like so:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=engineering+jobs

    brings you to

    http://www.engineeringjobs.com
    http://www.engineerjobs.com/

    http://www.justengineers.net/

and more. Do you think your future employers might look there?

But that's not all. Sites like CollegeRecruiter.com now allow users to automatically query many different job boards at the one time. For example, the San Francisco search at http://collegerecruiter.careercast.com/texis/js?q=%22san+francisco%22&qJB=F&qJB=F brought back 73 different responses, while the Engineer query at http://collegerecruiter.careercast.com/texis/js?q=Engineer&qField=Title&qSort=smart&qJB=F returned over 470. This, too, can be a great time saver as well.

The previous two steps are but a small portion of the independent, proactive techniques you can implement to get the job you deserve. You can find lots more free information at SnareAJob.com , the resource site that contains over 1,500 targeted links and techniques for improving your career searching success.
