Internships in Nevada

If you are approaching graduation from a Nevada school, you may want to consider completing an internship. An internship can provide an excellent environment for converting classroom knowledge into real world skills and experience. A search of CollegeRecruiter.com, which had 118 Nevada internships at the beginning of November, could provide a wide variety of internship experiences in a wide range of fields.

Scottrade, a large online investment firm, is offering internships for economics or finance majors in Henderson, Nevada. The job will include servicing and maintaining client accounts, performing phone and in-person customer service, managing customer paperwork, and verifying new account information. Requirements include a strong interest in finance and the stock markets, a minimum two-semester commitment, and strong interpersonal and communication skills, with some customer service experience preferred.

Michael Baker Corporation, a professional consulting and engineering firm, is looking for a geographic information services intern in Reno, Nevada. Job duties will include inputting, updating, and basic analysis of geospatial information for corporate clients, as well as assisting in the writing of technical proposals. Requirements include at least an associate's degree in geography or a related field, some coursework in GIS map science, and strong technical writing skills. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS Desktop, and AUTOCAD programs.

Arrow Electronics, Inc., a large global producer of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions, is offering an internship in logistics or distribution in Reno, Nevada. The job includes developing and implementing strategies in the operations, programming, shipping, and receiving departments. Tasks will include resource planning, project management, and personnel management. Requirements include junior or senior level engineering, business administration, or finance/accounting majors with strong computer, analytical, and communication skills.

The internships described above or any of the dozens of others listed on CollegeRecruiter.com can provide an excellent opportunity to enhance your resume. A successful internship experience shows future employers that you are capable of excelling in a real world job environment. An internship may also lead to a permanent job offer in the future because many companies would prefer to hire a proven intern over an unknown job applicant.
