Analyst Programmer - Systems

The Analyst/Programmer is responsible for analysis, design, creation, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of computer software. This includes project leadership responsibilities. The Analyst/Programmer is also responsible for the completion of various business tasks as assigned by the Information Systems (I/S) department manager.

FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, write, test and document computer programs, subroutines, and scripts to meet project objectives
  • Analyze requirements for new and existing computer systems
  • Maintain existing computer programs
  • Resolve production computer system problems (24 hours per day)
  • Act as a mentor to new employees
  • Re-engineer business functions by evaluating requests for service, questioning existing policies, procedures, workflows, etc., to ensure that the best systems are identified and implemented
  • As a project leader, the Analyst/Programmer is responsible for creating and carrying out the project plan

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience is required
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years programming experience
  • Ability to coordinate and lead small sized projects involving multiple departments within the company
  • Ability to work with vendor software; implementation guides and other system documentation
  • Insurance background with working knowledge of financial billing, A/R and bank processing preferred
  • Proficient knowledge with MVS Mainframe, AIX/Unix, Windows NT/XP, and Windows 2005 platforms required
  • Experience working with COBOL, VB6, and/or .Net preferred
  • Working knowledge of Sybase, isql and the vi Editor preferred
  • Experience working with any of the following HTML, XML, ASP, JavaScript, C#, Java, , and a plus
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook required
  • Demonstrated leadership, analysis, design, and project management skills is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills is required
