Central Drug, a 105 year old, independent, retail pharmacy located in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon, is seeking an educated, hard-working, experienced professional to join our team. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The role of, Experienced Customer Service/Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Professional, is to grow the business of Central Drug at the retail level. Through effectively and efficiently achieving success at activities such as proficiency and excellence in all aspects of independent pharmacy retail operations, maintaining and surpassing existing benchmarks for outstanding customer service relations, cash register operations, merchandising, shelving and pricing management.

The purpose of this position is to support the pharmacy staff through a variety of activities and related tasks; which include but are not limited to maintaining superior customer service, assisting the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications, sales support and generation. On a day to day basis this position involves responsibility for inbound and outbound calls and the opportunity to offer excellent support to customers with questions in regards to their accounts.

This is a fast paced, high volume, professional working environment and team members are expected to adhere to high expectations and are compensated for the outcomes of these efforts.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

-Hourly, full-time position: Monday - Friday 8:30 - 6:15 (1 hour lunch)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required?

-Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer-friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer
-Communicate with handicapped and unsatisfied customers in a professional and courteous manner
-Assisting in developing customer-oriented programs to encourage customer service satisfaction
-Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions, and process merchandise information through a computer and POS system
-Answer customer questions concerning location, price, and use (up to amount allowed by law) of merchandise
-Maintain an awareness of product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and current advertisements
-Professionally communicate with customers in person and by phone concerning orders, questions, and requests
-Collect, organize, and evaluate information to assist the pharmacist in filling prescriptions
-Technical functions relating to dispensing, which include data entry and label preparation, assembly, and labeling of stock
-Strong grasp of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, systems and disease processes
-Skillful communication with prescribers' and their agents
-Professional Business Attire Required, lab coat with proper name identification tag, required to be worn at all times
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor

THIS POSITION REQUIRES OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE, TEAMWORK, AND PROFESSIONAL APPEARANCE AND MANNERISM, ABILITY TO KEEP TRACK OF SEVERAL TASKS SIMULTANEOUSLY, AND THE ABILITY TO WORK UNDER STRESSFUL CONDITIONS. HIGH INITIATIVE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE ALSO KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-Create and maintain a good working knowledge of pharmacy/healthcare industry
- Develop and cultivate an understanding of advanced customer service skills within the specialties of retailing and healthcare delivery to educate customers to drive sales
-Dedication beyond normal expectations
-Ability to perform sustained hard work in a fast-paced work environment and meet the defined physical activities
-Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers (, friendly, courteous, and helpful)
-Ability to read, count, and write to accurately to complete all documentation
-Ability to organize and/or manage multiple priorities
-Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
-Ability to freely access all areas of the store including pharmacy, sales floor, stock area, and register area - Ability to lift merchandise weighing up to thirty-five pounds

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

To be qualified for this position, candidates will have relevant one-year minimum customer service experience in the retail industry and have skills to support success in a professional manner both in-person and over the phone. Furthermore, candidates will be comfortable and have a skillful knack to multi-task and provide information regarding a variety of healthcare and pharmacy products to consumers

- Preference provided to qualified college graduates / degree pursuing candidates with Bachelor's Degree level education specializing in health care/retail related fields
-Minimum of one year retail or customer service experience
-Achievement of passing grade on Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam (CPhT) by end of August 2008 (employer assisted training provided)
-Strong recommendations by previous employers required
-Successful completion of drug test (pre-employment and at random intervals) and general background check
-High School Diploma
