Job Duties: This full-time paraprofessional position works in a team environment in providing vocational rehabilitation services to consumers. We are seeking individuals who can communicate effectively with a variety of individuals; solve problems; and provide job search assistance.
The Consumer Case Coordinator position interviews Vocational Rehabilitation Program consumers to initiate Individual Plan for Employment (IPE); develops and manages active caseloads ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations; provides job placement assistance; initiates contacts with employers, community agencies, and medical personnel to follow-up on consumer services; prepares letters, decisions and documents related to program eligibility; resolves problems related to program service delivery; completes forms and reports; operates computers and other office equipment; and supports the work of professional Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors in a team environment. Special Requirements: Successful applicants must have the ability to travel within the assigned service area. Some positions may require fluency in Spanish/English and Hmong/English languages.
Knowledge Required: Skill in working with and knowledge of community resources available to people with disabilities; knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to vocational rehabilitation; knowledge of rehabilitation technology and adaptive equipment; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to explain complex information to and skill in dealing effectively with a variety of individuals including consumers, advocates, legislative staff, program professionals and members of the medical community; ability to maintain an effective team-based working relationship with staff and the public; knowledge of business, employment, and career opportunities available statewide; skill in interpreting labor market trends; knowledge of or skill in effective job seeking strategies and techniques including resume preparation, interviewing skills, or other similar related job seeking skills; effective problem solving skills; skill in organization of workload, establishing priorities and use of effective time management techniques; ability to handle multiple tasks and complete projects on short notice; knowledge of fiscal procedures; knowledge of computer and adaptive devices for the disabled; ability to use personal computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications such as Access; ability to operate various office machines including copy machines, typewriters; calculators, facsimile machines and telecommunication device for the deaf (TDD); and ability to produce letters, memos and reports.
