Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities The position of the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and improving manufacturing capability. The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to contribute his or her knowledge and expertise company-wide and not limit his or her focus. Specific duties and responsibilities will, however, be assigned by the Engineering Manager and may be defined as a production area, a manufacturing process, and / or a class of equipment. Responsiblities -Designing, organizing, commissioning, and maintaining production lines from cradle to grave that meet or exceed the Company`s performance requirements, including but not limited to cycle time, output, quality, and headcount. -Handling the development of equipment specifications, proposing capital spending, monitoring the equipment purchasing process, and championing equipment installation. -Improving existing operations, identifying opportunities to incorporate new, more efficient methods and processes, and identifying ways to reduce production costs and increase efficiency. -Investigating and resolving operational problems that affect production, including - especially - providing timely support in response to breakdown maintenance situations. -Providing technical expertise, support, and training to all engineering and maintenance activities as directed by the Engineering Manager and the Director of Operations. -Preparing and keeping current documentation of all equipment and processes. -Developing and subsequently monitoring full maintenance programs (including preventative and predictive) for all equipment. -Creating and implementing spare parts lists for all equipment, including assisting in establishing min / max stocking requirements, and periodically reviewing spare parts for availability and obsolescence. -Verifying the ongoing support of equipment makers for existing manufacturing capacity. -Managing operational and capital budgets. -Meeting launch plans and deadlines. -Assisting with product and process cost estimates. -Assisting with new product and process development. -Working to create and maintain a safe, secure, environmentally friendly environment for all. -Determining and communicating all utility requirements to the Facilities group. -Providing full support for the 5S5T program. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required. -BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required. -Highly skilled in the latest version of AutoCAD. -Ability to read and produce production drawings including geometric tolerances. -Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. -Strong machining and stamping experience is preferred. -Automotive experience is preferred. Conditions -Above items are the basic duties and responsibilities however, there is a possibility that duties may be changed, added or eliminated depending on the work load of the department and capability of the members. -Members may have to work late or on weekends depending on the progress of projects. -The working hours may temporarily change depending upon the progress of projects or the need to run production on off shifts. Departmental needs will be determined by the Engineering Manager. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Contact With Others Must possess the ability to get along with others.
