Field Operations Engineer JOB MISSION: To provide technical computer and business system support and guidance to Integrated Systems, Inc. and its client base. JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing medium-advanced (Tier 2-3) level of technical expertise and user support necessary for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of one or more ISI clients' data equipment. Installs, moves and maintains data and business system hardware and software; performs programming; trains client staff; troubleshoots reported problems with equipment or software. Key Areas: Field Ops (Service) Team & Project (Installation) Team * Service and support client data (primary) * Service and support client voice communication systems (secondary) Primary Responsibilities / Role Expectations: Role Expectations: * Provide excellent technical support for ISI sales representatives, clients and business partners across a broad range of products with an emphasis on Convergence of voice and data systems such as VoIP systems, File\Data\Application Servers & workstations and telecommunication systems. * Deliver technical- and sales-oriented solutions to clients/business partners' technical staff and senior management * Prepare and deliver systems and evaluations at ISI lab facilities and/or client sites * Participate in beta testing on client sites * Educate and persuade clients and business partners regarding the technical merits of ISI solutions * Meet with clients and business partners to understand their current technical environment, key business issues and future technology requirements * Build and maintain close technical relationships with engineering teams from select clients and business partners * Assist in the preparation of responses to proposal requests * Participate in branch, industry or regional events and training when required * Maintain ISI lab and demonstration room equipment * Maintain in-depth range of knowledge across ISI voice solutions * Communicate one-on-one with clients\team\manager\dispatch team daily Qualifications / Experience Required: * Field Engineers are expected to be "self starters" by bringing experience and knowledge to the team * Excellent diagnostic, client interaction, and consultative skills. * Valid Drivers license * Knowledge of PDA navigation * Strong client contact and communication skills * Strong problem solving skills * Ability to build and maintain relationships with technical decision makers and influencers. * Possess the ability to work with several clients at one time, while maintaining individual client satisfaction * Provide technical designs, including analysis, configuration, and pricing that meet client requirements and help solve client business or technology needs * Ensure clients have the technical tools and client service information required to be self-sufficient after the installation or service. * Strong Server, Convergence/VoIP/Telephony Skills * Strong LAN & WAN Skills * Strong Understanding of IP protocols and standards * Understanding of security protocols and standards * Understanding of Data/Voice/Video over IP & Remote Communications (VoIP/) * Previous Pre-Field Operations experience required. * Familiarity with voice products, such as VoIP systems, Unified Messaging, Business Communication Manager (BCM), Call Server (CS) 1000, and Call Pilot * Knowledge of the following protocols: H323, SIP, G711, G729, G723, RTP, RTCP, MGCP, IP, UDP, and TCP * Excellent multi-tasking skills * Excellent client interaction and consultative skills required. * Sensible organizational skills * Familiarity with data & data networking products, such as Microsoft Windows Operating systems (98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP Pro, NT Server, Server 200x, Exchange Server, Vista, Linux, Red Hat), Microsoft Office products, MS Active Directory, Managed Routers\Switches, VPN & Video Conferencing, RDC, Computer Workstation & peripheral systems & repair * Knowledge of structure wiring, including color code punch down and termination standards * Knowledge of voice & data wireless communication systems, such as standards, SVP wireless standards and supported systems * Knowledge of Cisco Pix or Nortel router\switch programming & configuration * Ability to navigate on up to a 12' ladder * Ability to navigate a motorized scissor lift up to 30' * Network infrastructure design and support * Firewall and Network security administration * Network and Server monitoring and maintenance * Performs software and hardware upgrades in a Microsoft environment Education and experience required: * Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related field * Must have 2 plus years experience with the following: Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Exchange 2003/2007 (2007 a plus), SQL experience a plus. * MCSA and or MCSE preferred * 5 or more years of experience with voice products/solutions * Experience with major telecom products manufacturer a plus The personal qualities required to excel in this position are: * Self-starter * Team player * Works well under pressure * Challenge-oriented * Fast learner Physical Demands Must have the ability to stand and walk for the majority of the day. The day-to-day activities are: You will spend about 50-80 percent of your time servicing and communicating with clients. This includes diagnostic, system repair, knowledge transfer and continuous client contact. With each client, your end goal is to ensure that their systems are working correctly and that the client is satisfied with ISI's products and solutions. You will spend about 20 percent of your day working with ISI products and solutions at ISI lab facilities or client sites. You will design and validate solutions, set up trials, and educate yourself on new products. In this position, you will travel outside of the Kansas City Metro area less than 50 percent of the time, as needed by clients, and you will maintain flexibility in work hours and days.
