The purpose of this job is to provide professional expertise as a fully competent engineer within a formal engineering process or a major porject. Coordinates and performs complex engineering tasks that support the mission of the unit, department and/or VTNA. Serves in a specialist capacity for a complex area of limited scope. Requires the ability to interpret the principles, theories and concepts of a specialized engineering area or assignment. BS Degree in Engineering with general experience equivalent to 5 or more years of progressive automotive or Truck experience or a minimum of 10 years of applicable progressive automotive experience. Plans, develops and completes engineering projects in CAD within an area of assignment. Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise; knowledge: originality; analysis; interation within department and external organizations; and detailed documentation and report writing. Assures compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARP, etc.) relating to his/her area of responsibility.
