So I set up an e-mail alert for jobs with a popular career messganing board. I put in words like , writer, copyeditor and editor into the search field, and every day I get sales jobs sent to me. This has been going on for about two weeks, and I tell you what I am turning the e-mail alerts off. Its a waste of my time. if they dont have anything that matches my listings, why not just send it empty. I think sales jobs must show up for everyone. Who ever designed that system should have to get the search results sent to them every day.

I sure hope that the results that you're getting are not from CollegeRecruiter.com. With our job match alert system, it is very important that the candidate put themselves into the shoes of the recruiter. Use the same keywords, categories, and other criteria that you would expect the recruiter to use.

I'm guessing that the terrible results you're seeing are due to one of two problems: (1) the career messaging board you're using has terrible technology or (2) the words that you're using match with words in the sales positions but they're out of context. If the first problem is what is happening, then stop using that site but don't assume that all sites have the same problem because we don't. If the second problem is what is happening, then take a close look at how you set up the search. It seems to me that perhaps you didn't select a category or selected the sales category when you should have selected the media or journalism category.

Best of luck!
