Our undergraduate co-op program seeks motivated undergraduate students to serve as co-ops in the Information Technology offices and centers of CIA's Directorate of Support. Undergraduate co-ops will work in a team responsible for the operation and support of Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers. Team members are actively involved in the deployment of new server capabilities, including software upgrades, hardware recapitalization, and the introduction of new systems. The team ensures the 24 x 7 x 365 availability of workgroup server services to customers throughout the Agency. In addition, the team engages in server performance analysis and tuning, capacity planning, and other long range and analytical activities to provide robust and reliable workgroup computing services to support the Agency's mission.

Students selected for this program are often attending academic institutions with established cooperative education programs, though not exclusively. They work on an alternating semester or quarterly basis and are expected to spend a minimum of three semesters or four quarters (this can include a summer tour) on the job prior to graduation. The undergraduate co-op program provides increasingly challenging assignments that are commensurate with the students' academic training and individual ability to assume additional responsibility.

Minimum qualifications:
Students should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with emphasis in server hardware and software. A GPA of or better is required. All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological examination, a polygraph interview, and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last 12 months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to 12 months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.

Important Notice: Friends, family, individuals, or organizations may be interested to learn that you are an applicant for or an employee of the CIA. Their interest, however, may not be benign or in your best interest. You cannot control whom they would tell. We therefore ask you to exercise discretion and good judgment in disclosing your interest in a position with the Agency. You will receive further guidance on this topic as you proceed through your CIA employment processing.
