Is your campus Web site ready for mobile? College-bound students are researching colleges via tablets and smart phones

Mobile is becoming a popular method to research colleges and universities for prospective students. To find out what this means for higher learning institutions, check out the following post.Are prospective students going mobile when they search for colleges online? According to the latest E-Expectations data, the answer is increasingly becoming “yes.”
Since the 2010 study, the E-Expectations project has tracked how many prospective students have viewed college Web sites on mobile devices. Those numbers have gone from 23 percent in 2010 and 14 percent in 2011 to 52 percent this year. With more and more students using smart phones and tablets, those numbers will surely increase in the coming years.

I was on a plane the other day and right after they gave me my drink (which was filled right up to the top), the Captain announces “fasten your seat belt, we’re about to hit some turbulence”. You would think that someone would have invented a “smart cup holder” that can keep a cup stable while bouncing around although a simple cover would have been nice too. Most Job Seekers Want Mobile Yet Few Employers Seem to Care
November 16, 2011 by Steven RothbergI’ve advocated for years that employers need to re-think how they’re communicating on-line with candidates because more and more of those candidates are using their cell phones as their primary connection device and not land lines, desktop computers, or even laptop computers.
It never ceases to amaze me how high a percentage of hiring managers, recruiters, and other human resource professionals have NEVER visited their own web sites using an iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, or other smartphone and how few of those who have visited their sites have never attempted to actually apply to a job using their mobile phone. Those who have realize almost without exception very, very quickly that they can’t. And when they see that typically 10 to 15 percent of their career site visitors are using mobile devices, you can see in their faces that they know they have a big problem that is getting bigger very quickly.
