Twitter Handles for Fast Company’s List of Top On-line Influencers
October 20, 2010 by Steven Rothberg
List of Twitter handles created for many of the most influential people on-line as ranked by Fast Company’s Influence Project.Minneapolis, Minnesota (October 20, 2010) - Who are the most influential people on-line in 2010? Hint: you may never have heard of many of them.
Months ago, Fast Company magazine created its Influence Project in an effort to find out who was the most influential. Would it be media darlings like Oprah and Shaq? Or would it be more ordinary people whose influence may not be as great with more traditional media outlets but who exert significant influence over their Twitter followers, Facebook friends, and LinkedIn connections. More than 32,000 people registered with Fast Company to find out where they stood along with a chance to get their photo in the magazine this November.
The top 10 on-line influencers according to The Influence Project were:
- Jeremy Schoemaker
- Shefqet Avdullau
- Tod Sacerdoti
- Cory Boatright
- Greg Clement
- Frank Kovacs
- Sebastian Saldarriaga
- James Dunn
- Richard Lee
- Pace Lattin
“I was surprised and pleased to see that I was ranked as the 43rd most influential person on-line in The Influence Project,” said Steven Rothberg, founder of CollegeRecruiter.com job board. “I’ve been an avid user of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn almost since they came out and they’re integral to our efforts to market our college job board to students searching for internships, recent graduates hunting or entry-level jobs, and employers looking for top talent. In fact, between just those three sites, we’re able to reach about 170,000 friends, followers, and connections within seconds. As the person at CollegeRecruiter.com who manages our social media efforts, I get my photo in Fast Company but my efforts would be futile if it weren’t for the stellar work put in by our writers, developers, and other employees.”
CollegeRecruiter.com has set up a link for those who want to follow many of the other Fast Company top influencers on Twitter, including Steven.

Crowd-sourcing sessions at onrec Expo 2010
August 25, 2010 by Steven Rothberg(Chicago, IL – August 25, 2010) — onrec Expo 2010 provides a thriving educational network opportunity for today’s recruiter. Onrec is the highly regarded “must attend” recruitment event of 2010 where corporate recruiting practitioners and thought leaders will share cutting edge sourcing and recruiting solutions to meet current and future talent needs.
onrec Expo 2010 brings attendees, presenters and exhibitors together to share their common interests – sourcing and recruiting top talent; to provide networking in an educational and professional environment which will stimulate beneficial partnerships, discussions, and debates. This year, onrec will also offer Crowd-Sourcing, a public distributed problem-solving model. First, the problems are broadcast to attendees – also known as the crowd – in the form of an “open call” for solutions. The group works together to form a successful solution to the problems at hand and offer up actionable solutions to help the recruiters at their organization.
This year’s Crowd-Sourcing sessions for the main event include:
- Crowd-Sourcing – “The Power of Social Media”, presented by Eric Winegardner, Vice President, Client Adoption, Monster.com and Marie Artim, Assistant VP of Recruiting, Enterprise Rent-A-Car
- Crowd-Sourcing – “Sourcing”, presented by Donato Diorio, Founder & CEO, Broadlook Technologies Crowd-Sourcing – “Recruiting”, presented by Steven Rothberg, President and Founder, CollegeRecruiter.com and Stephen A. Lowisz, President and CEO, Qualigence
General topics have been pre-determined (i.e. sourcing, recruiting, assessment, screening, etc.), and typically the attendees form into mini communities, with 2-3 attendees, they then submit solutions to the specific topics’ problems. The attendees also sort through the solutions, finding the best ones that will provide workable results. The best solutions are then owned by the entity that broadcast the problem in the first place – the crowd-sourcer, as well as the attendees. The winning individuals within the crowd are then rewarded with kudos, intellectual satisfaction, and recognition of a job well done.

Students Get Inside Look at Salary Insights and Company Reviews Direct From Employees
SAUSALITO, Calif. (July 28, 2010) — Glassdoor.com (www.glassdoor.com), a career community offering a free inside look at jobs and companies, has joined together with the just re-launched CollegeRecruiter.com to better help college students and recent graduates find the information they need to make better career decisions.
Now through CollegeRecruiter.com, students and grads can get firsthand insights from Glassdoor users into specific salaries by job title alongside job descriptions and open job listings in areas near them. In addition, visitors to CollegeRecruiter.com will get a behind-the-scenes look at what it is like to work or interview at a company and interview reviews based on feedback from employees or job candidates.
For example, with Glassdoor’s community insights and CollegeRecruiter.com’s jobs information, a recent grad who is looking to become a software engineer can find current job listings, get details into a specific company’s compensation package, find out how pay varies by location, see what other software engineers and other employees think about their jobs and employers, and get an advance peek into what it is like to interview at a certain company.
“Younger workers have been among the worst hit during the recession and so it’s especially important to arm the next generation of employees with the tools and resources they need to get off to a successful start,” said Robert Hohman, co-founder and CEO of Glassdoor. “Working together with CollegeRecruiter.com, we believe that our combined insights and data will help tomorrow’s workforce get a better understanding of the new normal in salary and learn about jobs and companies that align with their interests and is best suited to their education and skills.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with Glassdoor as we help lead the job board community from a Web 1.0 model where virtually all of the job posting, article, and other content is provided by the employers and the job board to a very Web 2.0 model where we continue to feature content from employers and our staff but also content provided by users of CollegeRecruiter.com, Glassdoor, and other sites,” said Steven Rothberg, President and Founder of CollegeRecruiter.com. “Our users – and users of all job boards – want and deserve a much more interactive, open, honest, and transparent experience. They want to learn about job opportunities and what it is like to work for a particular employer from that employer but also from current and past employees of that employer. Job seekers want and deserve the opportunity to engage in a conversation about the pros and cons about specific jobs, organizations, occupational fields, locations, and more. And with the re-launch of our site and partnership with Glassdoor, our job seeking visitors will get all of that. We’re thrilled.”
Content syndication from Glassdoor enables sites like CollegeRecruiter.com to provide to their users access to information on more than 85,000 companies currently in Glassdoor’s database. Company reviews and salary information on Glassdoor are provided anonymously by a community of insiders, providing great insight into the inner workings, compensation, and pros and cons of working at companies across the globe.
