LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, and CollegeRecruiter.com, the leading niche job board for college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities, are co-hosting a half day college recruiting conference on Monday, May 13th at LinkedIn’s corporate headquarters in Mountain View, California.
No Selling
During the keynote and presentations there will be absolutely no selling of any kind. LinkedIn Surpasses 200 Million Members; Adding 2 New Members Every Second

LinkedIn, the largest professional network on the Internet, announced yesterday that it has reached 200 million active members and that new members are joining LinkedIn at a rate of two per second. That’s about 172,800 per day. The company has added more than 13 million members since its last announcement on November 1, 2012.Since reaching 100 million members in March 2011, LinkedIn has added 13 new languages, making the site available in 19 languages. Today, LinkedIn counts more than 160 million unique monthly visitors and, according to ComScore, is the 23rd most visited Web property in the world. Why Job Boards Should Embrace and Not Fear Mobile
January 08, 2013 by Steven RothbergJeff Dickey-Chasins a/k/a The Job Board Doctor recently posted an article that reminded me that many job boards are either in denial about the growth in usage of the Internet by those on iPads, cell phones, and other mobile devices or those job boards are fearful about that usage migration.
I agree that job boards largely displaced newspapers as the primary source for job postings and that social media sites such as LinkedIn are trying to displace job boards as the primary source for job postings. I also agree that those social media sites look more and more like job boards and would cite as a further example the Social Recruiting App recently launched to much fanfare (and criticism) on Facebook as well as somewhat similar apps added to Facebook pages by companies such as Jobcast (i.e., CollegeRecruiter.com Facebook page) and Work4Labs. It’s Never Too Late to Learn

The following post teaches all of us that even though people make mistakes, they can still be productive citizens and work to provide a better life for themselves.Two young men, from different backgrounds, each tell a tragically similar story of their mistakes, which resulted in felony convictions and incarcerations. Their names aren’t important, but their stories are.
Both men are using education to take charge of their futures and be productive citizens.

The following post explains a new initiative for career development to create a better prepared workforce in the U.S. for employment opportunities.St. Petersburg (Fla.) College engineering and technology student Tungo Harris has a plan: “I want to get gainfully employed — and I figure I will be after this — with a decent salary,” Harris told the Tampa Bay Times. Thanks to a new $15 million grant announced last month by U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis at St. Petersburg, Harris, a Navy veteran who is recovering from a brain tumor, can now get help in fulfilling his plan.
